The world is starting to shift towards a more globalized period and leads to a lot of pollution generated by the industrialization of cities around the world. In the future, it will be hazardous for livings to breathe in the open air as the surrounding air will be polluted which leads to humankind finding different ways to continue living on earth before the possibilities to live on another planet becomes reality.

The idea of living hermetically within one large enclosed space with its own ecosystem that is self-contained has been around for some time and experiments have been done to investigate whether it is possible to sustain life without any help from the outside. The idea itself is simple; bringing sufficient nature into the enclosed space and sustaining life through the natural process where the relationship between human and nature comes closer together. 

 

3D printing technology has been a huge success in smaller scaled products and in the future it is predicted that it will be one of the major sources of producing almost everything. Glass is an unlimited material whose number of applications is constantly evolving and which is more and more used in combination with other material for high-tech applications.  Combining glass and 3d printing technology equal unlimited possibilities in terms of function and form as a material which can be easily produced in a very high volume. With the resources available in the Grand Canyon, the production of glass will be fast and efficient without the needs to transport them elsewhere.
